TIFF
(tagged image file format)
   Le format TIFF (tagged image file format) est fréquemment utilisé pour l’échange d’images entre différents programmes, par exemple lors de l’utilisation d’un scanner. Il est également utilisé pour la numérisation des livres en mode image, qui sont eux aussi scannés. Le format TIFF est développé à partir de 1986 par Aldus Corporation (intégré ensuite à la société Adobe), en collaboration avec Microsoft et Hewlett-Packard. Les fichiers TIFF (dont l’extension est ".tiff" ou ".tif") sont couramment utilisés en PAO (publication assistée par ordinateur), pour l’envoi d’images par fax, dans les applications 3D (en 3 dimensions) et dans l’imagerie médicale.
